Hanging out with the Bigwigs: Vietnamese-Lao Politburo Chit-Chat
Ho Chi Minh City - Things got pretty serious between Tran Cam Tu, a big-time member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and Permanent member of the CPV Central Committee's Secretariat, and Bounleua Phandanouvong, the acting honcho of the Commission for External Relations of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee. These two heavyweights chatted it up in the bustling city of Hanoi on June 3.
Tu gave Bounleua a warm welcome, congratulating him on his new gig. He couldn't help but express his confidence that the seasoned Lao official would continue to shine, using his wisdom and connections to champion the LPRP's foreign policy and strengthen the unique bond between the two nations.
Tu proposed that the commission for external relations from both sides should carry on their tradition of solid camaraderie, share more information, and align their strategies to ensure they knock their goals out of the park.
Before the meeting, Bounleua had a sit-down with Buì Thanh Son, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He confirmed that the Commission for External Relations of the LPRP Central Committee would always bring their A-game to carry out tasks assigned by both parties and deliver on their commitments. Bounleua also expressed gratefulness for Vietnam's unwavering support and aid over the years.
In the afternoon, Bounleua paid a visit to the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, where he mingled with the Academy's staff, lecturers, and students. He and the academy's crew discussed the special bond between Vietnam and Laos.
Fun fact: The CPV and LPRP's relationship is older than dirt! It dates back to the struggle for independence in both nations, with these two communist powerhouses consistently standing by each other throughout their national construction and development processes. Their bond has been tightened through high-level meetings and agreements, ensuring their ties remain stronger than ever.
