Streaming service Prime Video, in partnership with RTL, revives the classic series "Gladiators" for a modern audience.
In an exciting development for fans of classic television, RTL, RTL+, and Prime Video have announced their collaboration for the production of 'Gladiators - The Show of Giants.' This revival of the original 'Gladiators' series is set to begin in spring 2026 at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair.
RTL Studios, the production powerhouse behind the German adaptation, will oversee the creation of this new show. Jens Huiber, the producer of the German 'Gladiators' at RTL, will take the editorial responsibility for the project. Sabine Stark, Thorsten Gieselmann, and Sandra Waechtershäuser serve as executive producers for the show at RTL, while Markus Kuettner, the Entertainment Chief at RTL, will lead the project.
The show promises a fresh, modern presentation that is more intense, energetic, and true to the original. Participants will compete against each other and a team of professional athletes known as the Gladiators. These Gladiators are typically professional bodybuilders or strength athletes, ensuring a spectacle of strength and agility.
Prime members will have exclusive access to all episodes of 'Gladiators - The Show of Giants' on Prime Video. Four weeks after the Prime release, new episodes will also be available on RTL in free TV and on RTL+ for streaming in advance. The exact times for the RTL and RTL+ releases will be announced at a later date.
Inga Leschek, Chief Content Officer of RTL Germany, expressed her excitement about the project, promising a mix of classic gladiatorial fights and thrilling competitions. She believes this revival will captivate audiences with its adrenaline-pumping action and timeless appeal.
