Streaming Picks for August 2025 - Part 2:
Peacemaker Returns for Second Season
Get ready, fans! The much-anticipated second season of the campy, bloody delight, "Peacemaker," is set to premiere on August 21, 2025, on HBO Max. The series will also be available a day later on Sky Max and NOW in the UK.
In this new season, Chris Smith / Peacemaker finds himself in an alternate dimension that promises him the life he always wanted. However, this revelation prompts him to confront his past and shape his future. The story delves into themes of revenge, redemption, guilt, and what it truly means to be a hero.
Peacemaker also faces consequences from his previous choices, including being hunted by Rick Flag Sr., who seeks revenge for his son's death. This season continues the story in the DC Universe, serving as a soft reboot of the previous DC Extended Universe. John Cena reprises his role, alongside familiar and new characters.
The series is created and partly directed by James Gunn, who wrote all eight episodes and directed three of them. Filming took place in 2024 alongside the production of the Superman (2025) film, linking it closely to the new DC Universe continuity.
The second season of "Peacemaker" explores multiverse concepts, retaliation, redemption, satire, and heroism. The cast includes returning characters and new ones such as Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord from the DC multiverse.
Meanwhile, August is also a month filled with exciting new releases. "The Legend of Ochi," a family fantasy movie, is available from August 15. The Marvel animated action series "Eyes of Wakanda" will be available on August 27 on Disney+, expanding on the world established by the "Black Panther" movies.
