Streamer hit by fitness enthusiast Bradley Martyn during a Solana cryptocurrency token exchange event
Headline: Drama and Dramatic Gains in the World of Crypto Livestreaming: Pump.fun and Bagwork Meme Coins
In the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrency, two meme coins, Pump.fun and Bagwork, have been making headlines for their unique blend of drama and financial gains.
Pump.fun and the Incident with Bradley Martyn
The Pump.fun team found themselves in the limelight due to an incident involving fitness influencer Bradley Martyn. One of the Pump.fun developers, during a livestream, attempted to steal Martyn's hat. In response, Martyn slapped the developer, an act that was caught on camera. The developer later apologised in a video, thanking Martyn for the incident that led to a significant pump in the value of the Pump.fun token.
Pump.fun's Native Livestreaming Feature and Record Attempts
Coincidentally, Pump.fun added livestreaming as a native feature in the same month as the incident with Martyn. Since then, creators on Pump.fun have been attempting to set world records, stream personal events like childbirth, and even get married, all while generating substantial income.
Bagwork's Meteoric Rise and Incident at a Baseball Game
Meanwhile, the Bagwork meme coin, another Solana project, saw a meteoric rise after one of its developers ran onto the field during a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. The two unnamed leaders of the Bagwork project are not publicly disclosed, but their anonymous actions led to a 2,026% pump in the coin's value, taking it from a $131,150 market cap to $2.78 million in just seven hours.
Controversy and Injuries in the Livestreaming Scene
The livestreaming scene has not been without controversy. A Miami-based dev named Mikol suffered severe injuries after dousing himself in isopropyl alcohol and having fireworks shot at him during a livestream, resulting in third-degree burns across a large portion of his body.
Creator Rewards and Professionalisation
Despite these incidents, livestreamers on platforms like Pump.fun are paid a percentage of every trade placed on their token, via creator rewards. In an effort to professionalise its livestreaming scene, Pump.fun has funded the frat-bro content collective Basedd House through its meme coin launchpad.
New Projects and Continued Drama
Following the incidents, some devs have chosen to leave projects and relaunch new streamer coins. For instance, Mikol, who was involved in the aforementioned incident, later quit the Pump.fun project and launched a new streamer coin. Another dev from the Bagwork project shaved their head on-stream after the incident with Bradley Martyn, indicating a continued emphasis on dramatic stunts in the world of crypto livestreaming.
It's clear that the world of cryptocurrency livestreaming is a dynamic and often dramatic one. With new projects launching regularly and incidents making headlines, it's a space that continues to captivate and intrigue.
