Stream live coverage of the U20 lacrosse world championship taking place in Jeju
Lacrosse, a fast-paced and exciting sport, is set to make history as the 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship takes place in Asia for the first time. This global event will be held on Jeju Island from August 21 to August 24, 2025.
The championship, which began as an Under-19 event in 1988, has evolved into the current U20 format. Over the years, it has grown significantly in reach and popularity, now featuring 20 teams from across all continents except Antarctica. The 2025 tournament marks a milestone as the first held in mainland Asia, showcasing the sport’s expansion beyond traditional North American and European centers.
Soop, a Korean streaming platform, has secured the broadcasting rights for this historic event. Soop has been actively promoting lacrosse in Korea since May, broadcasting major matches and producing a range of related content to raise awareness of the sport. They have signed an official partnership with the Korea Lacrosse Association for stable management of domestic and international lacrosse broadcasts.
The participating teams include those from countries with strong lacrosse traditions like the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, and newcomers like New Zealand. The objective in lacrosse is to move the ball down the field and shoot it into the opponent's net to score points. The competition is expected to ignite local interest in lacrosse in Korea following its inclusion as an official event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The upcoming championship is set to be a showcase of high skill levels and intense matches. The U.S., while historically dominant, will face stiff competition from teams like Japan, Hong Kong, and Chinese Taipei, who are increasingly competitive in the sport. The inclusion of new debutants like New Zealand and a broad field further signify lacrosse’s expanding global footprint.
Soop plans to produce a range of content for the 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship, including highlight reels and player interviews, to engage and educate the audience about the sport. With the championship's first-ever presence in Asia, it promises to be an exciting event that will bring the world of lacrosse closer to Korea.
