Strategies from Our Current Situations

Watched Beauty and the Beast, found it profoundly moving:

That Disney flick, Beauty and the Beast, left me all teary-eyed the other day. The whole movie hit home for me as it encapsulated the essence of what it truly means to be human. The story begins with plenty of sunshine, but soon enough, the clouds roll in and life takes an unexpected nose-dive. But fear not, for in the end, everyone lives, well, happily ever after.

To me, the movie mirrored the human journey because it beautifully illustrated that, beneath the surface of our lives, there's a deeper perfection constantly working towards making our journey smoother.

In Beauty and the Beast, we have a dashing man who's living his best life. Suddenly, things take a turn for the worse as he's cursed and transformed into a horror show. However, even amid his darkest hours, he's given a chance to reclaim his old life—if he can learn the art of love. So, even in those tough times that seem chicken-fried, there's a silver lining hidden behind the scenes as he embarks on a breathtaking voyage of discovery, learning things he never knew before. Through the darkness, he may seem to be losing, but to the casual observer, it's just a stepping stone towards an even more gorgeous life than he'd ever experienced.

Learning to Love, the Hard Way

The underlying lesson? Learning how to love. Even in those dark times that seem anything but perfect, there's a hidden perfection working in the background as you journey through life's most challenging obstacles.

Fun Fact: The deeper meaning behind Beauty and the Beast revolves around the essence of the human condition. Specifically, it's about accepting the imperfections—both ours and others—and transforming them into sources of strength and wholeness. The story mirrors the psychological process of accepting the "shadow," a concept from Jungian psychology, where the "beast" symbolizes the unacknowledged, imperfect parts of oneself. Embracing and accepting these imperfections can pave the way to personal growth, maturity, and a more authentic and perfected self. Fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast help individuals, especially children, process inner conflicts and existential anxieties while demonstrating the power of unconditional acceptance and empathy.

Movies-and-TV like Beauty and the Beast offer insights into our human journeys, portraying that even in the darkest times, there's an underlying perfection working towards our growth and improved lives. The story's entertainment value extends beyond surface-level enjoyment, offering profound reflections on the essence of the human condition, particularly the psychological process of accepting imperfections and transforming them into sources of strength.
