Kieron Goodwin, 33, ended the brief relationship with Olivia Wood, 29, in a chilling fashion, taking her life less than three months after their encounter.

Their time together was overshadowed by Goodwin’s manipulative tactics, as he forced Olivia into those he deems unsuitable, threatened her with self-harm, and coerced her financially.

WhatsApp messages reveal Goodwin bullying Olivia into considering sexual interaction with another male, despite her many refusals[4]. He additionally took advantage of her kindness by convincing her to transfer more than £6,000, money that, unbeknownst to Olivia, was ultimately spent on illegal substances[2].

Goodwin's emotional manipulation amplified when he pressured Olivia to take time off work in order to assist him in his emotional crises.

Tragically, Olivia never shared her struggles with anyone. Scattered notes on her phone hinted at her deep sadness and unrest[3].

Speaking on behalf of the family, Olivia's loved ones said: "The void created by our loss is immeasurable. Olivia was the primary force that united us, a reliable confidante, an adored sister, a cherished daughter.

She was a unique, selfless person, who possessed a shared wisdom, an unmatched wit, and a timeless attractiveness. Olivia would always put someone else's needs first, offering assistance, comfort, and support at a moment's notice.

Now, she has been taken from us, leaving a huge vacancy in our lives, a love that can never be replaced."

Not Just Right

On November 25, 2024, Metro initiated "Not Just Right," a year-long campaign to shed light on the profound issue of gender-based violence[1]. Through partnerships with organizations like Women's Aid, the campaign strives to expose the alarming extent of this national emergency.

In the early hours of July 30, Goodwin made a call to emergency services claiming that Olivia was not breathing. Eventually, paramedics found her at his flat, where they discovered worrying signs of injury[3].Police were alerted a short time later, following the medics' arrival. During their investigation, a prepared suitcase and bags filled with Olivia's belongings were discovered, suggesting that she was readying herself to depart[3].

Goodwin strangled Olivia after giving her a potentially fatal dose of cocaine[2]. He maintained his innocence but was ultimately found guilty following a five-week trial[3].

Besides being convicted of the murder of Ms. Wood, Goodwin was also held accountable for 15 other offenses, including: rape, coercing a person into sexual activity, intentional strangulation, and assault by penetration[3].

The court was informed that Goodwin would manipulate his victims, threatening to release damaging photographs and falsely accusing them of crimes. To fuel his cocaine habit, he coerced numerous women into transferring hundreds of thousands of pounds to him[2].

In a alarming show of control, Goodwin would pressure the women into keeping him company when he threatened self-harm[2]. He denied the charges against him, claiming the women had willingly consented to the sexual activity[3].

Detective Superintendent Lorett Spierenburg stated: "Kieron Goodwin is not just dangerous, but incredibly manipulative. He planned his actions meticulously, deceiving and harming those who trusted him.

His actions against each of his victims have greatly impacted their lives, and ultimately led to Olivia's tragic demise. These women, who have had the courage to speak out about their experiences, deserve commendation and support as they move forward with their healing.

This verdict will ensure that Goodwin faces justice for his reprehensible crimes, and it may also serve as a beacon of hope for those who are still struggling in similar situations."
