Former race car driver Danica Patrick has spoken candidly about her past relationship with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, describing it as emotionally abusive. In an interview on 'The Sage Steele Show' on YouTube, Patrick revealed that the end of their relationship in 2020 was the most painful experience she has ever gone through.
"The breakup with Aaron in 2020 was sudden and felt like I'd lost a significant part of my life," Patrick said when asked about her most difficult experience. "Living with someone integrates them into your core, and the suddenness of the breakup was like a blow to my identity."
Patrick further explained that the nature of their relationship was emotionally taxing and left her emotionally drained.
"Someone who you'd never imagine could cause me to question myself, or believe I wasn't capable or worthy, managed to tear apart my confidence," she said. "He left behind a trail of destruction, and I don't think I'm saying anything too dramatic given the public discussion around our relationship."
Despite the painful nature of the split, Patrick expressed gratitude for the lessons she learned about self-care and self-love.
"The breakup was a turning point that offered me the greatest gift - a deeper understanding of the importance of caring for myself," she shared. "It taught me about my need for independence and self-reliance."
Both Rodgers and Patrick have moved on since the separation, with Rodgers being more secretive about his recent relationships, while Patrick has hinted at a new relationship on her Instagram in September 2024.
