The Julia Stoschek Foundation is presenting the "Shifting" exhibition at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, inviting visitors to the open foyer to watch a selection of nine video works that delve into various themes. This intriguing exhibition continues until April 30, 2023, and admission is free.

One of the highlights of the "Shifting" exhibition is Wael Shawky's segment "Cabaret Crusades," a dark crusade tale told through expressive ceramic marionettes. Another captivating piece is Eli Coplan's video sculpture, which removes the polarization filter from the screen, causing a recorded news broadcast to hover in the air.

The exhibition also features the video "Underneath the Bridge" by Emma Rosenzweig, set in an outdoor beauty clinic in a Copenhagen park. This video initiates a contemporary discussion about self-determination and nature, making it a thought-provoking addition to the exhibition.

In addition to these works, "Shifting" showcases Christelle Oyiri's "Hyperfate," a poignant story about black rappers who often meet a tragic end after a quick rise. Tarren Johnson and Joel Cocks' video "Succubus" creates an "atmosphere of incompleteness" with rehearsal scenes from California.

Lila-Zoe Krauss' video features a "Girl" programmed in a skewed way, wandering through a dreamy science fiction opera, while Danish artist and DJ Courtesy's video "intimate yell" explores the theme of uncertainties in digital communication through friends dancing, flirting, and turning away to club rhythms.

Lou von der Heyde, a 27-year-old curator, has completed master's degrees in Curatorial Studies and Critical Studies in Frankfurt and Vienna. She is currently exploring the origins of media art in NRW.

The exhibition is part of the "Shifting" exhibition, curated by Lou von der Heyde, who is a scholar of the "Curatorial & Research Residency Program" founded by Julia Stoschek in 2019.

A reading with Olga Hohmann, Jan Koslowski, James Massiah, and Emma Rosenzweig will take place on April 26 at 3:30 PM as part of the "Shifting" exhibition. For the most accurate and updated information about the exhibition's dates, location within the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, and opening hours, please visit the Julia Stoschek Foundation’s official website or contact them directly.
