Storm Wutip forces postponement of Miss Vietnam 2024 competition.
The Miss Vietnam 2024 Grand Finale is getting a new date due to the calamitous effects of Storm Wutip, wrecking havoc across the central region. The initial date was June 14, but complications forced the organisers to reschedule the event.
The storm's heavy rainfall and floodwaters have made the event in Hue impossible as planned. Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Binh, declared this at a press conference. He pointed out that the prolonged downpours caused by Storm Wutip raised the Huong River's water level, hampering the stage area.
The authorities and organising committee, after careful thought, decided to keep the competition's outdoor venue to preserve its spirit, image, and symbolism. Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the committee, Hoang Tho Ninh, clarified that the postponement wasn't just about spectator and contestant safety, but also to prepare better for the grand show.
During this waiting time, candidates will rest, recover, and practice, ready to showcase their best selves on the finale night. Ninh shared that the candidates are optimistic and determined, promising stellar performances.
This marks the first time the Miss Vietnam event will be held in Hue, which is part of the city's ongoing cultural and entertainment activities to promote its vibrant heritage. Out of half a year's worth of competition events, 25 women have qualified for the final stage, which will be staged by the picturesque Huong River.
In addition to the beauty contest, the evening will features popular artists such as Ho Ngoc Ha, Nguyen Tran Trung Quan, Satila Hong Vinh, Le Quyen, People's Artist Trong Phuc, violinist Hoang Rob, and musician Tri Minh, making for an exciting night of entertainment.
