Storm set to strike Stuttgart from 5 p.m. onwards.
Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Parts of Baden-Württemberg, Excluding Stuttgart
A weather warning for severe thunderstorms has been issued by the German Weather Service (DWD) for parts of Baden-Württemberg overnight. The warning is in effect for the southern Black Forest, the Alb, and the region around Lake Constance.
According to the DWD, a low pressure system moving eastward south of the Alps is bringing moist and thunderstorm-prone air to southern Germany. This system is responsible for the current weather situation, which could see up to 30 liters of rain per hour in some areas. However, it's important to note that this is not guaranteed.
The warning indicates that some areas could experience locally heavy rain up to severe weather levels. A small thunderstorm had already passed over the region by 4 p.m., originating in Sindelfingen and moving on to Filderstadt.
Despite the warning, Stuttgart is not expected to be affected by the severe weather. Weather experts forecast moderate rain on Thursday with temperatures around 19°C during the day and 14°C at night. While there is an increasing chance of precipitation (up to 70%) during Thursday daytime hours, no explicit forecasts for thunderstorms or severe weather for that day have been reported.
Longer-term forecasts show more variable conditions but do not highlight severe weather overnight or on Thursday specifically. For the most current and detailed severe weather outlook, it's best to check with official local meteorological services such as the DWD.
