Tree uprooted - Leer-Oldenburg railway line closed - Storm 'Joshua' Causes Train Diversion, Delays on Norddeich Mole to Hanover Line

Due to storm 'Joshua', long-distance IC services between Norddeich Mole and Hanover have been rerouted via Osnabrück. This diversion follows a train collision with a fallen tree near Bad Zwischenahn, leading to the temporary closure of the line.

The incident has resulted in several stations being skipped, including Augustfehn, Westerstede-Ocholt, and Oldenburg. Passengers experienced delays of up to 45 minutes. Firefighters swiftly cleared the tree from the tracks, and repairs to the overhead lines are currently underway.

Regional trains on the RE 1 line have also been affected, with a replacement bus service set up between Bad Zwischenahn and Oldenburg. The storm caused further disruption in the Heidekreis area, with multiple road blockages due to fallen trees.

The line is expected to reopen by this afternoon, restoring normal services between Norddeich Mole and Hanover. Deutsche Bahn is working to minimise disruption and keep passengers informed. No injuries were reported following the collision.
