Storm drain repairs to start March 16 at Brandgasse intersection

Repairs to a damaged storm drain will begin on March 16, 2026, at the intersection of Brandgasse and Lindengasse. The work aims to fix blockages caused by root infiltration and prevent future flooding in the area. Lane restrictions will be in place during the five-day project.

The storm drain pipe at the intersection is no longer fully functional. Tree roots have grown into the system, causing blockages that could worsen during heavy rain. To address the issue, municipal crews will carry out renovations from March 16 to March 20.

During the work, parts of the road will be closed to vehicles. However, pedestrians can still cross through the site without disruption. The repairs follow standard procedures for rainwater pipe maintenance, including camera inspections and methods to permanently remove root intrusions. Local authorities have stressed the importance of the work. Without intervention, rainwater could pool in the area, increasing the risk of flooding during storms.

The project will run for five days, ending on March 20. Once complete, the storm drain should operate normally again. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes while the lane restrictions remain in effect.
