Typhoon Danas Triggers Level-IV Emergency Response in Eastern China

Typhoon Danas, the fourth typhoon of the year in China, is making its way towards the eastern provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian, causing concern for the safety of the region.

On July 7, 2025, China's Ministry of Water Resources activated a Level-IV flood emergency response in response to the approaching typhoon. This is the fourth of four levels, with Level I being the most severe. The activation of this emergency response is a direct response to the threat posed by Typhoon Danas.

In the city of Taizhou, located in east China's Zhejiang Province, the emergency response at Sanjiangkou Wharf is ongoing. Police officers and crew members are working tirelessly to secure a mooring vessel at the wharf, an immediate response to the threat posed by Typhoon Danas to the vessel and the surrounding area.

The emergency response at Sanjiangkou Wharf is part of the larger emergency response ongoing in the provinces of Zhejiang and Fujian. The response is aimed at securing vessels and implementing preventive measures to minimize the impact of the typhoon.

Zhejiang Province raised its typhoon emergency response to Level III and has implemented multiple preventive measures such as sheltering ships, suspending sea routes, and halting construction projects. Meteorological and local government departments in Zhejiang and Fujian are coordinating joint flood and typhoon response strategies, including enhanced monitoring, early warning, and disaster management efforts.

Typhoon Danas is expected to have a significant impact on the mooring vessel at Sanjiangkou Wharf due to the ongoing emergency response. The typhoon made landfall in Taiwan late on July 6–7 and is forecast to make a second landfall on the coast between Taizhou in Zhejiang and Ningde in Fujian on July 8. It is bringing heavy to torrential rains expected to last from July 7 to 10 across southeastern Zhejiang, the eastern coast of Fujian, and central-eastern Jiangxi Province.

Due to significant rainfall and rising river levels, including in the Qiantang River and its tributaries, the emergency response at Sanjiangkou Wharf is crucial in the broader efforts to mitigate the impact of Typhoon Danas.
