Storm chaos shuts roads and grounds flights as heavy rain batters the island

The storm has already caused significant disruption. In St John’s, Patrick Road is closed between Station Road and Glen Needles Road after a fallen tree blocked the way. The closure will remain in place until 12:00hrs on Monday, December 8.

Police have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel due to heavy rain and localised flooding. St Mark’s Road in Ballasalla and the Ballamodha Straight are particularly hazardous, with reports of difficult driving conditions.

The severe weather continues to impact flights and safety. Road closures and flooding are expected to persist until conditions improve. Residents are being asked to stay updated on further warnings and avoid affected areas where possible.
