In a string of unfortunate events, Berlin has endured another temporary service disruption due to severe weather, this time followed by substantial damage to Tegeler Forest in the north of the city.

Berlin’s S-Bahn services were disrupted temporarily, and although warnings were lifted overnight, the extensive damage can’t be ignored. Long-distance trains from Berlin to Hamburg were affected, as well. Due to fallen trees on roads, especially in the northern areas of the capital, a Berlin fire department spokesman reported a significant number of incidents. In addition, a person was severely injured in Potsdam due to a falling tree branch in the New Garden.
Both Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt were not spared the arrival of severe weather on Thursday. Numerous fire department deployments were reported, particularly in Dingelstadt, where a tornado caused uprooting and damage to a great number of trees. There were even countless emergency calls in the Altmark region of Saxony-Anhalt.
By late evening, the German Weather Service finally lifted the warnings for severe thunderstorms. No additional severe weather is forecast for Friday.
