Storm Bram grounds Isle of Man ferries as red alert hits coasts

The red coastal overtopping warning will be in effect from 1pm to 4pm on Tuesday, with the highest risk at around 2.30pm when the afternoon tide peaks. South to south-southwesterly gales will strengthen to severe gale force for several hours before easing slightly, though winds will remain at gale force for the rest of the day. The combination of high winds and tide is expected to push large volumes of water and debris onto exposed coastal areas, particularly Castletown promenades, Shore Road in Rushen, and the northern end of Douglas Promenade.

The Met Office warnings remain in place as Storm Bram brings hazardous conditions to the island. With ferry services halted and coastal areas at risk of flooding, emergency measures are focused on minimising danger during the storm’s peak. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
