Storm alert prolonged in Krasnodar region: inclement weather persists
The Krasnodar region in Russia is preparing for a spell of severe weather, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds anticipated overnight on September 20 and 21.
The prediction comes from the FGBU 'SCGMS CHAM', with Roshydromet, the primary weather service for storm forecasts in the Krasnodar region, being the responsible authority.
According to the latest reports from the Krasnodar Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds are expected in the region, excluding certain areas. The warning remains in effect until the morning of September 21.
Strong winds with gusts up to 20 meters per second are anticipated, posing a potential threat to structures and outdoor activities. Additionally, a risk of waterspouts forming over the Black Sea near the Krasnodar region's coast has been reported.
However, following this period of severe weather, a 30-degree heat wave is expected to replace the cold and wet weather. Notably, no significant rain or wind is expected during the heat wave.
Svetlana Popova, deputy head of the regional hydrometeorological center, predicts a return of summer in the Krasnodar region. She also stated that another cold front is expected to pass through the region, likely bringing rain and cooler temperatures.
It's worth noting that popular commercial websites like wetter.com also provide detailed weather and severe weather forecasts for this area.
Despite the severe weather warning, the warning does not apply to the Black Sea coast from Anapa to Magri and the city of Sochi. Residents in these areas are advised to continue with their usual activities, but to remain vigilant and follow any local advisories.
An anticyclone is expected to influence the weather in the Krasnodar region until the end of next week, potentially bringing more stability to the region's weather after the upcoming severe weather event.
