In the heart of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), an annual open amateur fishing competition took place on July 12, 2022, in Tyubiatinsky Nasleg of Namsky Ulus. Organised by the Ministry of Ecology, Nature Management, and Forestry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Administration of Tyubiatinsky Nasleg of Namsky Ulus, and the Federation of Sport Fishing of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), this event attracted a record-breaking 181 participants, surpassing last year's 120 participants.
The competition, held in the picturesque and unique ecosystem of Yakutia, offered a range of categories for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Artyom Sivtsev emerged as the absolute winner, while the "Most Successful Families" and those most knowledgeable about fishing rules were also recognised.
The winners were determined through a combination of factors, including the weight and number of fish caught within a set time frame, as well as specific achievements, such as the largest fish caught. For instance, Victor Aleksandrov won the "Largest Catch" category with a 71 cm, 2.5 kg pike. Tuyaara Popova and Aleksandra Kupriyanova were awarded for the most delicious omul fish soup, and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Federation of Sport Fishing awarded prizes for the longest rubber boot.
The event also honoured individuals for their contributions to the fishing industry. Anatoly Alekseyev, Deputy Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), awarded Ivan Yakovlev for his significant work in this field. Gavril Parakhin, People's Deputy of the State Assembly (Il Tumen) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), presented an award to Nikolai Dyakonov.
Vladimir Fedotov, a 77-year-old angler, was named "Fisherman-Akasaqal", while the youngest participant was just 3-year-old Ayr Kapitonov. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Federation of Sport Fishing also awarded prizes for the participant from the farthest location.
