At the Primorsky Safari Park in Vladivostok, Russia, an unusual friendship has captured the hearts of visitors – between a three-year-old Amur tiger named Amur and a goat named Timur. This unorthodox companionship, initially a predator-prey situation, has transformed into a heartwarming spectacle, garnering significant attention [1][2].

A month ago, Amur, an experienced hunter of deer and rabbits, encountered a "meal" he didn't desire – a goat named Timur. Contrary to expectations, Timur courageously stood his ground, leading to an unlikely friendship. Over time, Timur came to see Amur as his leader, following him everywhere, and the pair entertained themselves together, occasionally engaging in playful activities. Impressively, Amur even protected Timur from park workers, a behavior previously unseen in the tiger [3].

Park director Dmitry Mizenцев maintains that the risks for Timur have greatly decreased as the duo has resided together for over a month. He told TASS that Amur is unlikely to eat Timur [3].

Amur and his sister Taiga are part of the Euro-Asian Association of Zoos' Amur tiger breeding program. A potential bride named Ussuri was recently introduced to Amur from the Moscow Zoo's nursery [4].

Visitors to the primate can now follow daily news and updates about the pair, view the latest photos and videos, and shop for merchandise featuring their image in the park's online store. In addition, a special section is dedicated to collecting and sharing jokes about the tiger and goat's friendship [1].
