The Rolling Stones' latest album, "Hackney Diamonds," is making waves in the music world and has a solid shot at securing the coveted "Album of the Year" title in this year's Official German Charts. Frontman Mick Jagger, ever the humble veteran, casually mentioned during an interview with radio station SWR3 that they might just snag the title, but with a familiar musician's caution, he added, "No matter what album you make - you never know if people are going to like it."

Released in October 2022, "Hackney Diamonds" is the Rolling Stones' eleventh number one album, and it's the band's first complete album of new material since 2005. Jagger confirmed that they're close to finalizing their next album, with about 75% of the songs already completed. Once they wrap up the album, the band plans to hit the US tour circuit and may return to the studio for more songwriting.

German music fans are eagerly awaiting the Rolling Stones' return, as they haven't confirmed any German tour dates just yet. Last year, the record-breaking German band Rammstein took home the "Album of the Year" title with their album "Zeit." GfK Entertainment, the organization responsible for calculating the Official German Charts, crowns the year's top album based on sales and streaming data alone.

As for the competition, the Rolling Stones face stiff challenges from rival artists, including The Weeknd with his album "Hurry Up Tomorrow," classical composer Ludovico Einaudi, and pop sensation Taylor Swift. However, these odds and potential competitors are not definitively established and will ultimately depend on the specific criteria and voting processes of the Official German Charts.

In the lively world of music, every album and its potential impact make for an exciting game of musical chairs, and the Rolling Stones are about to test the waters with "Hackney Diamonds."
