Stolen phone leads to cafe attack: Bridgerton actress confronts assailant who threatened stabbing

In a shocking turn of events, it was a regular day at Joe & The Juice in Kensington, South West London, until actor Genevieve Chenneour found herself in a terrifying situation. The 27-year-old star, known for her role as Clara Livingston in the hit Netflix show Bridgerton, became the protagonist of a thrilling tale when a phone thief threatened her life in a chilling cafe attack.

The Unforeseen Ordeal

Genevieve was sitting peacefully in the café when 18-year-old Zacariah Boulares stole her phone on February 8. The encounter quickly turned violent, as Genevieve bravely intervened and pinned down the thief. However, the situation escalated when Boulares threatened to stab her with a concealed weapon.

In an interview with ITV, Genevieve revealed, "I was threatened with being stabbed, so it became a matter of life and death." She also recalled kicking Boulares to create space in case he was armed. The ordeal left her feeling scared to venture outside and even led her to leave her home in the capital to take a "break" from the city.

The Brawl

The dramatic confrontation lasted for around five minutes, with Genevieve managing to take her phone back from Boulares after repeatedly hitting him with it in the posh café. A brave customer assisted her in the altercation as well.

A Life-Changing Moment

Genevieve described the incident as a "life-changing, crazy moment." The actress previously claimed that she suffered a concussion during the terrifying incident and that her dog was also traumatized. However, she remained unyielding and added, "They didn't expect me to stand up for myself - but I did."

Background

Boulares pleaded guilty to stealing the phone and assaulting another café customer, Carlo Kurcishi, who had come to Genevieve's aid. In addition, Boulares has a long criminal history, including a previous incident where he threatened to cut off the arm of Songs of Praise presenter, Aled Jones, while stealing his Rolex[1]. Jones and his son bravely followed Boulares but ended up backing off when the teen pulled out a 20-inch machete[2].

Awaiting Sentencing

Boulares will be sentenced for robbing Genevieve on June 17 at Isleworth Crown Court. According to reports, he has over a dozen previous convictions for theft-related offenses[3]. Despite his extensive criminal record, Boulares was released early from youth detention after serving just 14 months of a 24-month sentence for a prior robbery[4].
