Steve Rothery and Thorsten Quaeschning unveil the visual accompaniment for Bioscope's latest track, titled Gentō
==============================================================================
Bioscope, the exciting new collaboration between Steve Rothery (guitarist from Marillion), Thorsten Quaeschning (electronic composer from Tangerine Dream), and Alex Reeves (drummer from Elbow), has released their debut album "Gentō" on August 22, 2025, through earMUSIC.
The album, consisting of five instrumental tracks, is a captivating blend of progressive rock guitar and Berlin School electronica, inspired by men's endearing fascination with moving images. Each track offers a unique immersive musical experience, with an emphasis on instrumental storytelling and sound textures.
"Gentō," the title track, and "Kaleidoscope" are the known singles from the album. The term "Gentō" refers to a Japanese “magic lantern,” a still-image projection system, reflecting the album’s cinematic concept.
Bioscope is currently touring Europe, with upcoming performances in the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. Fans can catch them at De Boerderij in Zoetermeer on December 10, Metropol in Hengelo on December 11, Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen on December 13, Astra in Berlin on December 14, and Progresja in Warsaw on December 16.
While the exact locations for their UK dates in early 2026 have not been specified, Bioscope has expressed interest in performing there. The band hosted in-store Q&A and signing sessions on August 22 and 23, 2025, in London and Leeds respectively, to promote the album.
The band has shared a video for their new single, "Gentō," which features a video from Rothery's daughter Jennifer. Previously, they shared a video for their previous single, "Kaleidoscope."
Bioscope describes their debut album as a "mesmerizing journey through a cinematic landscape of sounds and textures." The album is available as a CD+Blu-ray Digipak (including High-Res, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby 5.1 Surround Mix) and as a heavyweight black 2LP gatefold vinyl.
With more live dates expected to be announced in the near future, Bioscope's European tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for progressive rock and electronic music fans alike.
