Stephen Lang joins The Dregs—a cursed Grappa turns an Alpine holiday deadly

A new comedic thriller, The Dregs, is set to begin production in Tuscany. The film follows a group of friends whose holiday in the Italian Alps takes a dark turn after drinking a cursed bottle of Grappa. Stephen Lang has now joined the cast as the story's sinister antagonist.

The plot revolves around a trip gone wrong when the friends encounter a bitter Alpine waiter, played by Lang. His character guards a family recipe for Grappa—one steeped in alchemy and witchcraft. The cursed drink triggers a series of terrifying events for the unsuspecting group.

The ensemble cast includes Nava Mau, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Piper Curda, Maddie Phillips, Max Lloyd-Jones, and Charlie Gillespie. They are joined by Benjamin Norris, Marta Pozzan, Maria Grazia Cucinotta, and Zach Tinker, who also serves as an executive producer. New additions to the project are David Goren, Desiree Staples, Evan Bittencourt, Kheon Clarke, Fletcher Donovan, Quinnie Vu, and Mike Stern, the latter of whom helped develop the film. Casting was handled by Jeremy O'Keefe and Tina Marie McCulloch. Representation for key actors includes CAA, The Artists Partnership, and Round Table Entertainment for Aghdashloo, while Lang is represented by Innovative Artists. Piper Curda's team consists of Prototype Talent, Curtis Talent Management, Zoom Talent, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.

Production on The Dregs is underway, with the film blending comedy and horror against the backdrop of the Italian Alps. The story's mix of cursed folklore, a vengeful antagonist, and a doomed holiday sets the stage for an unpredictable thriller.
