Stefan Lex has returned to TSV 1860 Munich, this time as head of the club's youth academy. His appointment in 2024 marked a new chapter after a successful playing and coaching career with the same team. The former striker now leads efforts to nurture the next generation of players.

Lex first joined TSV 1860 Munich as a player in 2018, spending five years as a striker. During that time, he scored or assisted 90 goals across 184 competitive matches. After retiring, he stayed with the club, taking on roles as an assistant coach and team manager.

His focus later shifted to talent development, a role he had already begun before his latest appointment. Since becoming academy head in 2024, the youth system has shown clear progress. Regional league performances have improved, and more young players have moved up to the senior team in the 3. Liga. By March 2026, the academy's success was evident in several ways. Three U19 players made their first-team debuts in the 2025/26 season. The club's youth teams also climbed higher in Bavarian competitions. Lex's work has strengthened scouting and training, helping promising players push toward professional contracts.

The academy's growth under Lex reflects his experience both on and off the pitch. More young players are now breaking into the senior squad, while youth teams perform better in regional tournaments. His leadership continues to shape the future of TSV 1860 Munich.
