Steampunk-Themed Shakespearean Performance Begins Rehearsals for Upcoming Festival - Steampunk-inspired production of Shakespearean plays undergoing practice sessions in preparation for upcoming festivals

Get ready to immerse yourself in a bizarre and enchanting world as the artistic director, Joern Hinkel, promises to dish up a steampunk-inspired interpretation of Shakespeare's classic comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Bad Hersfelder Festspiele.

Kick off your summer with laughter, romance, and music as Hinkel delivers a spectacle that pushes the boundaries of the already insane storyline. This Bad Hersfeld Midsummer Night will be filled with wild love tales, slapstick humor, and a dash of eroticism.

In this reimagined production, the action unfolds in a Victorian royal court in the late 19th century. Characters from other Shakespeare works like Romeo and Juliet will find their way into the magical forest setting, adding a twist to the chaos and confusion. TV detective Erol Sander ("Mordkommission Istanbul"), Anouschka Renzi, Bettina Hauenschild, Christian Nickel, and Helena Sigal are some of the lucky few to join this fantastical adventure.

For the first time ever, a large orchestra will not only accompany a musical performance but also a play. The music for "Midsummer Dreams" will be specifically composed for this unique production, promising an auditory experience that'll compliment the play's whimsical and romantic undertones perfectly.

Bad Hersfeld Festivals, known for their grandeur and tradition, have been a staple in eastern Hesse for over seven decades. Last year saw over 103,000 festival-goers, and this year's event, running from June 20 to August 18, brings more excitement with Schiller's "The Robbers" featuring music by Die Toten Hosen, a reunion with the Broadway musical "A Chorus Line", the play "Like in Heaven", and a family-friendly production of Astrid Lindgren's classic "Ronja the Robber's Daughter".

So mark your calendars, take a journey into the enchanting world of steampunk and Shakespeare, and experience the Bad Hersfeld twist on one of literature's most beloved comedies.
