Tom Brady's Epic Legacy Commemorated in Bronze

On August 8, 2025, the bronze statue of legendary football player Tom Brady was unveiled outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The statue, standing 17 feet tall and weighing six tons, honours Brady's 20-year career with the New England Patriots, during which he led the team to six Super Bowl titles and 17 division championships.

The statue, created by local sculptor Jeff Buccacio, is a testament to Brady's unparalleled achievements in the NFL. The design, inspired by a photograph of Brady raising his right fist in a victorious yet exhausted pose, captures Brady's competitive spirit and leadership. The statue's granite hexagonal base symbolizes the six Super Bowl championships Brady won with the Patriots, and the total height including the base represents the 17 division titles he helped the team secure.

The statue was commissioned by Patriots owner Robert Kraft as part of a promise made during Brady’s induction ceremony into the Patriots Hall of Fame on June 12, 2024. Kraft retired Brady’s number and announced the statue plan at the same event. The unveiling was initially planned for the 2024 season but was delayed due to scheduling conflicts around Brady’s busy broadcasting career and the Patriots' poor season performance.

Thousands of fans, Brady's family, former teammates, and team officials including Robert Kraft attended the unveiling ceremony. The statue is prominently placed near the Patriots Hall of Fame at Patriot Place, at the "front door" of Gillette Stadium, designed to greet fans as a tribute to the greatest player in franchise history. It is also illuminated from above for visibility both day and night.

During the ceremony, Brady made self-deprecating comments, suggesting he didn't think a statue was appropriate until he was "really old," like Vrabel. He also saved his best comments for the rival New York Jets, stating that the statue would also give them something to throw their beers at as they leave the stadium every year, possibly in the second quarter.

The statue is located outside the team's Pro Shop and Hall of Fame, serving as a lasting symbol of Brady’s impact on the Patriots and New England football. It's a fitting tribute to a player who redefined greatness in the NFL and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the sport.
