Tom Brady's Legacy Immortalized in Bronze

Tom Brady, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, saw his legacy immortalized in a towering bronze statue during a ceremony at the Gillette Stadium. The statue, standing 17 feet tall, symbolizes the 17 AFC East division titles Brady won as a starting quarterback with the New England Patriots.

The statue was unveiled before the Patriots' pre-season game against the Washington Commanders. Robert Kraft, the team's owner, hailed Brady as not just the face of the franchise but the heartbeat. Kraft stated that Brady rewrote the record books and practically authored a new volume in football history.

Brady's career success is marked by numerous notable achievements and records. He holds the record for the most regular-season wins by a starting quarterback with 278 wins, exceeding the totals of many NFL franchises themselves. In the playoffs, he has 35 career wins, more than 27 of the 32 NFL teams, and has led teams to 10 Super Bowl appearances, winning 7 Super Bowl titles.

Brady's dominance is also evident in his passing records. He is the all-time NFL leader in career passing completions (7,753), attempts (12,050), passing yards (89,214), and touchdown passes (649). He also holds the record for most career touchdown passes in both regular season and playoffs, and is the only quarterback with 600+ regular-season touchdown passes.

Brady's statue ensures his legacy will be preserved for future generations. The 48-year-old Brady, who expressed feeling overwhelmed, honored, grateful, and a bit old during the ceremony, seems to be aware of his age and longevity in the sport.

Across 23 seasons, three with Tampa Bay, Brady started in 333 regular season matchups and 48 playoff games, both NFL records for a quarterback. Brady's comments suggest self-awareness about his age and longevity in the sport.

The ceremony took place two and a half decades after Brady's NFL career began. Former teammates Mike Vrabel, now head coach of the Pats, and Mike Bruschi were present at the event. However, Tedy Bruschi was not mentioned as being present.

Brady, who was the fourth-string quarterback before emerging as a superstar, having been taken 199th overall in the 2000 draft, continues to defy expectations and leave an indelible mark on the NFL. Kraft believes that Brady's legacy will be preserved for generations to come with the statue. Last year, Brady was inducted into the Patriots' Hall of Fame.
