Last Starcar Branches in Hamburg to Close - Starcar's final branches close as German car-sharing era ends

Starcar, the German car-sharing company, has reached the end of its operations. The company filed for insolvency in October 2022 and stopped most services by December that year. Now, its final branches will close within a week, including three locations in Hamburg.

The company once had numerous branches across Germany. By the time of its liquidation in February 2026, only 23 collection points remained. Around 170 employees were still working for Starcar when the insolvency was announced.

On 23 January, the insolvency administrator confirmed the wind-down of Starcar and its subsidiaries. No buyers came forward to take over the business. Without further options, the decision was made to liquidate the entire group.

The closure marks the final step in Starcar's shutdown. All remaining branches, including those in Hamburg, will stop operating in the coming days. The company's assets will now be liquidated as part of the insolvency process.
