Star Wars' imminent animated anthology series puts the spotlight on Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane as leading characters.
Star Wars fans are in for a treat as the latest animated anthology series, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, premieres on Disney+ on May 4, 2025. This short series, consisting of six 30-minute episodes, delves into the criminal underworld of the Star Wars galaxy.
The show focuses on two main characters: Asajj Ventress, a former assassin, and Cad Bane, an outlaw bounty hunter. Asajj Ventress' story in Tales of the Underworld follows her return from death, as depicted in the 2015 book Dark Disciple. Meanwhile, Cad Bane's story involves a confrontation with an old friend who has turned to law enforcement.
Asajj Ventress is not alone in her adventures. An unexpected new ally will join her, a young Force-sensitive child who is on the run from the Imperial Inquisitorius. Each character, Asajj Ventress and Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane, will have three episodes dedicated to their stories in Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld.
The series is part of the Tales anthology format, which has previously explored stories of the Jedi and the time of the Empire. However, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld aims to find a better balance in storytelling compared to previous Tales anthology series, which struggled with balancing stories and time in their respective series.
Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is set to stream on Disney+ and is scheduled to run six episodes. The show is created by Dave Filoni and features the voice talents of Corey Burton as Cad Bane and Nika Futterman as Asajj Ventress.
For those who enjoy action, adventure, drama, and science fiction, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld is a must-watch. It offers a fresh perspective on the Star Wars universe, focusing on the criminal underworld and the lives of its notable characters. So, mark your calendars and get ready to dive into the darker side of the Star Wars galaxy on May 4, 2025.
