Callum Wilson Joins West Ham United on a One-Year Deal

Callum Wilson has joined West Ham United from Premier League rivals Newcastle United on a one-year contract, following a five-year stint at St. James' Park. The English striker, known for his goal-scoring prowess and work ethic, became a free agent after failing to agree on a new deal with Newcastle.

Wilson, a former England international, made 130 appearances for Newcastle, scoring an impressive 49 goals across all competitions. Prior to his move to Newcastle, he spent six seasons at Bournemouth, where he netted 67 goals in 187 games. His professional football career began at Coventry City, where he scored 23 goals in 55 appearances.

West Ham manager, Graham Potter, was quick to praise Wilson, describing him as a proven, experienced Premier League striker with a great personality and excellent character. Potter emphasised that Wilson's signing will have a positive impact on the squad and the club's younger players.

Wilson, in turn, expressed his excitement about joining a massive London club that shares his passion for hard work and dedication. He also expressed his intent to connect with West Ham fans, citing scoring his first Premier League goal against West Ham as a special memory.

This move marks Wilson's third time changing clubs in the summer transfer window, following El Hadji Malick Diouf and Kyle Walker-Peters. The English Premier League season begins for West Ham away at promoted Sunderland on Aug. 16.
