Star player Caitlin Clark provides an update on her injury status, hinting at a potential comeback against Brittney Griner's Atlanta Dream team.

Caitlin Clark, the WNBA's shining star, has been out of action for nearly two weeks, nursing a quadriceps strain picked up on May 24 during a clash with the New York Liberty. And it's not just the Indiana Fever feeling the pinch; the whole league's taking a hit, with betting interest in Fever games slumping by around 50%, as reported on our site.

In her sophomore WNBA season, Clark has been a force to reckon with, notching up an average of 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game. But the quad injury threatened to put a halt to her impressive run. During the game, she couldn't feel a thing: "Adrenaline? It's a bloody miracle worker. During the heat of the battle, it covers up a whole lotta stuff. After the game, I had ourselves some pain, then we got an MRI, and well, let's just say I didn't like what I saw."

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Clark hinted at a possible return by June 10, against the Atlanta Dream (Brittney Griner's team, you might say). "I won't be on the court this weekend, but after that, it's one day at a time. I'll gauge how I feel, consult the medical crew, and see what they reckon," she said.

You know what they say, an injury's as unpredictable as a wild cat on PCP. Injuries like Clark's can be a day-to-day thing. "On good days, I feel like I've made a ton of progress. On bad days, I wake up feeling like a truck ran over me."

The Fever are being extra careful, resisting the temptation to pin a firm return date on Clark, as the injury's a fickle beast. "It's kinda like playing a game of guessing the weight of a wet paper towel," Clark said.

By the weekend, Clark expects to undergo another evaluation to get a clearer picture of the injury. Sidelined as she may be, she's still keenly involved with the team, cheering them on from the bench during games and dishing out insights drawn from her unique vantage point.

"From out there on the court, you don't always see the little things," she said. "Being on the bench gives me a different perspective and allows me to connect with my coaches and teammates. Whether it's during halftime or in the heat of the battle, I'm here to make sure we all stay in the game together."
