Star pitcher Jacob deGrom expresses relief after securing a victory following a two-year winless streak with the Rangers
Jacob deGrom's Long-Awaited Victory
It's been an eternity since Texas Rangers ace, Jacob deGrom, saw a "W" in his record. That changed on Tuesday when he crushed the Athletics in a 15-2 landslide victory, marking his first win since...well, since forever it seems!
After the game, deGrom couldn't hide his jubilation. "Been a while, man, back to '23 I reckon," he said, reminiscing about his last victory.
The right-hander was a beast on the mound, pitching sixinarceless innings and striking out seven. His overall performance in 2025 has been impressive, boasting a 1-1 record, 2.73 ERA, and an impressive 33 strikeouts in 33 innings, with only seven walks. DeGrom's pinpoint command is nothing new, but it's been a sight for sore eyes this season.
Second baseman Marcus Semien praised deGrom's performance, appreciating how he kept the defense on their toes and allowed the offense to stay at the plate longer:
"He earned it tonight. His stuff was on fire! We were just chattin' about the time of possession. It's usually good when the batter stays at the plate longer."
The Athletics were no match for deGrom's dominance. But let's not forget, the Rangers are a force to be reckoned with. Despite struggling offensively, they're currently sitting pretty in third place in the American League West, boasting a 16-14 record.
