Last February, Kyle Ashman, aged 23, was one of two men questioned by the police after a violent attack in Stafford. The incident occurred at a wake, where masked thugs stormed the venue, hacking at a man with a blade.

One onlooker recounted the harrowing event, sharing that "children were taken into a room and locked in there to keep them away from the violence." The victim of the assault nearly lost his arm and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. He remained hospitalized for approximately two weeks. While Ashman was questioned, there was no further action taken against him.

Nonetheless, the channel was unaware of Ashman's involvement, and he was not identified as a potential contestant. An insider stated, "Ashman may have signed up to one of the biggest shows on TV with this hanging over his head."

Love Island has a sordid history riddled with controversy. Contestants such as Sherif Lanre, Joe Garratt, and Haris Namani have all been embroiled in scandals. Tragically, former contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis have taken their own lives, sparking calls for better care for reality show participants.

Staffordshire Police is currently investigating the matter and reported that "a 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray." As of now, both suspects have been released with no further action taken.

As Kyle Ashman was not charged, his criminal history did not come to light during Love Island's stringent DBS checks. An ITV spokesperson commented, "It's only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.

Contestants typically sign up months in advance for the reality show, widely celebrated as it approaches its tenth anniversary. Fans eagerly await the new line-up, with Ashman among the contestants due to make their debut in the upcoming season.

Sadly, the controversy surrounding Kyle Ashman has left a dark cloud over the highly anticipated new season of Love Island. Will Kyle share his account of the events leading to his arrest, or will the investigation cast a shadow over the long-running reality series?
