"Star of All Creatures discusses the reasons behind the significant time leap in the upcoming show's storyline"
Prepare for the return of the beloved series, as "All Creatures Great and Small" makes its comeback on Thursday, September 25, at 9 pm. The new season, which moves forward to May 1945, brings a feeling of hope as characters look forward to a world beyond the war.
Leading the cast once again is Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, joined by Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Rachel Shenton as Helen, and Anna Madeley as Mrs. Hall. A time jump of nearly four years since the events of the last series has resulted in some significant changes for the characters.
James Herriot and Helen now have two children, adding a new dynamic to their lives. James' son Jimmy, who is four years old, accompanies him on vet visits in the new series. The actress who plays Mrs. Hall, Mary Hignett, has had some time away, and her character's absence is felt in the new season.
The action in season 6 includes a greyhound track story, a rescue dog named Danny Boy playing a lovely whippet, and a miniature horse with hair reminiscent of Rod Stewart's prime. Tricki, Mrs. Pumphrey's pampered Pekinese, also returns in the new season.
Callum Woodhouse reprises his role as Tristan, who has served in Italy with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Nicholas Ralph reveals the reason for the time jump was to avoid getting bogged down in the war years, allowing the series to focus on the lives and relationships of the characters.
Rachel Shenton discusses the maturation of James Herriot and Helen's relationship in the new season, marking a new chapter in the lives of the characters. This new season promises to be a heartwarming continuation of the beloved series, offering a glimpse into the lives of the characters as they navigate their personal and professional lives in the post-war era.
Tune in on Thursday, September 25, at 9 pm to witness the new chapter unfold in "All Creatures Great and Small."
