Star Magic: New Year's Enchantment at the Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Opera and Ballet Theatre recently hosted Stellar Magic, a concert praised by attendees as magnificent. A diverse programme featured classical favourites, operetta excerpts, and lively ensemble performances. Soloists and duets alike showcased both vocal and instrumental talent.

The evening opened with Ekaterina Koryakina and Albina Borisova performing Offenbach’s Barcarolle. Their duet set a graceful tone under the direction of Olga Chemposova and Vasily Pinigin. Later, Alexey Ivanov and Ekaterina Zakharova took the stage with a selection from Kalmán’s operetta Silva, bringing a light-hearted energy to the programme.

Maryam Cherepanova joined flutists Nina Nikolaeva and Vyacheslav Voronin for *Fantasia on Rigoletto*, blending orchestral and vocal elements. Anastasia Nikulina’s trumpet solo, *My Tender, Gentle Beast*, earned warm applause from the crowd. Praskovya Gerasimova followed with Musetta’s Waltz from *La Bohème*, her performance met with enthusiastic cheers. Fyodosiya Shahurdina delivered Isaac Dunayevsky’s *Zazdravnaya*, accompanied by pianist Alisher Saledinov. The playful *Cat Duet*, inspired by Rossini, saw Sargylana Ivanova and Maria Mikhailova take the stage in feline costumes, adding a whimsical touch to the evening. The theatre also announced an upcoming *New Year’s Masquerade Ball*, themed around *Die Fledermaus*. Performances are scheduled for December 26 and 27, with a final show on January 5.

The Stellar Magic concert highlighted a mix of operatic classics, instrumental solos, and theatrical flair. With the New Year’s Masquerade Ball approaching, the theatre continues to offer festive performances for holiday audiences. Tickets for the remaining dates are expected to be in high demand.
