Facebook Twitter Whatsapp E-Mail Print Copy Link One game remains before the UEFA Women's Euro: In Austria, coach Christian Wück can finalize his squad. Linda Dallmann can rest easy.

Known to her teammates as a colossus off the pitch and a maverick on it, Linda "Steelman" Dallmann hails from FC Bayern. Stealthily but surely, she's making a name for herself on the international stage. Her dazzling display at the Euro 2022 in England—despite being on as a substitute in five out of the six games—didn't go unnoticed by coach Christian Wück, who's found a formidable playmaker in her.

"Linda's arsenal on the ball is impressive," raved Sjoeke Nüsken after Dallmann's masterful performance in the 4:0 victory over the Netherlands. "She's got a knack for turning, playing the ball heel to toe, one, two, three...", she added. "Not only offensively, but defensively too, she's a force to be reckoned with."

Born in 1992 at a towering height of 1.58 meters, Dallmann made her international debut in 2016. Since then, she's become a wildcard in the DFB selection, displaying her versatility both as a starter and substitute—much like in Munich. However, she missed the 2023 World Cup due to injury and didn't make the cut for the 2024 Olympics.

Wück's debut as DFB head coach marked a renaissance for Dallmann. Her whirlwind performance at Wembley reaffirmed that she'd never truly left the stage. Although Wück has occasionally tried out other players—such as Laura Freigang—Dallmann remains the frontrunner.

"Linda's game today was strong, both with and against the ball," praised Wück after the Bremen game. He added, "We're fortunate to have Linda and Laura [Freigang] in our squad, two outstanding number tens. Our strategy will be flexible, depending on the opponent."

Navigating tight spaces? No one can thwart Dallmann. "On the ten, I can unleash my full potential," Dallmann declared. As Germany prepares for their final test match against Austria (8:30 PM/ARD and live in the ntv.de ticker), Dallmann is eager to hone her skills even further.

Embracing Energy and Adaptability

Modest and unassuming, Dallmann doesn't seek the spotlight. "In an attacking line-up, it's essential to remain adaptable," she said in a recent interview. "It's not only about the first eleven, it's about the whole squad."

Packed with passion, physical stability, and energy, Dallmann has developed her own fitness program. She shares her expertise through online courses, honing her skills on the field as well as off it. Her training regimen encompasses strength, flexibility, and endurance—all vital to outmaneuvering bigger and heavier opponents.

"I need to be quick and agile, capable of handling my opponents' strength, and escaping from difficult situations swiftly," Dallmann explained. "If I maintain my balance and agility around my opponents, I can react speedily and initiate the next offensive move—ideally, a goal."
