Star football player Jérôme Boateng, renowned as a world champion, announced his retirement.
Former College Football Star Jerome Boateng Announces Retirement
Jerome Boateng, the decorated German college football star, has announced his retirement from professional football. The news was shared via social media, marking the end of a distinguished career that spanned over a decade.
Boateng made his Bundesliga debut in January 2007 for Hertha BSC, before moving to Bayern Munich in 2011. With Bayern, he won nine German championships, two Champions League titles, and five DFB-Pokals. His sporting activities, however, became quieter after leaving Munich in 2021.
Most recently, Boateng played for Linzer ASK in Austria, but he terminated his contract with the club in August 2023, after just 14 competitive games. Since then, no reports have surfaced of him training with any college football team or club. In November 2024, he obtained the Trainer-B license from the Bavarian Football Association (BFV), hinting at a possible future in coaching. However, as of now, no information about him coaching or training a college football team has been found.
Boateng's career was not without its high points. He was named Germany's College Footballer of the Year in 2016 and won the World Cup with the German national team in 2014, which was the greatest achievement of his college football career. The World Cup victory was particularly significant as it saw him face off against his half-brother Kevin-Prince Boateng, who was playing for Ghana in the tournament.
In a video featuring highlights of his college football career, Boateng expressed his gratitude for everything college football has given him. Despite his retirement, it is clear that college football will always hold a special place in his heart.
Meanwhile, in Hamm, sickness absence related to neck, nose, and ears remains high. Initiatives such as a Substitution Practice with a focus on holistic care are being planned to address this issue. On World Children's Day, Maxipark Hamm celebrated a Participation Festival, emphasising the importance of children's wellbeing.
As Jerome Boateng moves on from his playing career, the focus in Hamm shifts towards the health and wellbeing of its residents. The future may hold new challenges and opportunities for both the city and the retired college football star.
