Star Awards 2025's Fervent Fans Arrive Eight Hours Prematurely at the Crowded Fan Zone
The world of celebrity fandom reached new heights as two dedicated fans, dubbed the Overzealous Fan and Even More Overzealous Fan, demonstrated their unwavering devotion at the Star Awards 2025 in Singapore.
The red carpet segment, held on July 6, evening, attracted a multitude of fans, with some, like the Overzealous Fan, prepared to endure the sweltering heat to personally capture the event. The Overzealous Fan, stationed at the back of the crowd, even set up a stool to prop his camera tripod, ensuring he didn't miss a moment of the action.
However, the Overzealous Fan's commitment paled in comparison to that of the Even More Overzealous Fan. This fan arrived at the event a staggering six hours before the first segment, at 9am, and declared his determination to stay until the post-event party, which he estimated would end around six hours after the red carpet segment.
The Even More Overzealous Fan's primary intention was not just to witness the event but to take selfies and engage with celebrities. In fact, he stated that there were over 200 celebrities at the event, making it an unparalleled opportunity for fan interaction.
Despite the late hour and the expense of an expensive cab ride, the Even More Overzealous Fan remained indignant at the suggestion of leaving before the event ends. His dedication was so strong that he did not have a ticket for the main show in The Theatre at Mediacorp, but he was undeterred, believing that staying at the event required hard work.
This phenomenon, where fans camp out or line up to secure a spot at celebrity events, is commonly referred to as **“fan camping”** or **“queuing”**. It is driven by fans' desire to be as close as possible to the celebrity or to get exclusive access, often involving waiting for hours or even days in advance.
In addition, this behaviour connects with broader trends in celebrity culture and fandom, where fans actively engage in events and campaigns surrounding the stars they admire, sometimes creating large-scale gatherings and coordinated activities for visibility or activism.
