Freak Injury Sidelines Superstar Mike Trout
Woah, sports fans! Check out the latest from our website as we dive into the news about Mike Trout.
The Los Angeles Angels have given their star outfielder, Mike Trout, yet another health setback. Despite previously placing him at right field to help maintain his health, Trout was put on the 10-day injured list on May 2 due to a troublesome bone bruise in his surgically repaired left knee[1][3].
This injury occurred during the Angels' 9-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday when Trout tried to leg out an infield single[3]. Regrettably, he was out by a whisker and was forced to take a break mid-game.
"He has a bone bruise so we're putting him on the IL," Angels manager Ron Washington told MLB.com[3]. "It's not significant. But he needs rest."
Before getting hurt, Trout expressed hope to get back in the lineup on the very same day. He believed the pain was merely a stubborn case of scar tissue breaking[3].
"When it happened, I knew it was, like, just a weird one," Trout stated after the game. "But now, after receiving treatment, I should be good as new soon."
Throughout his career, Trout has managed to play more than 82 games only once in the past four seasons[2]. This latest injury adds to his list of health concerns, which includes hamate fractures and calf strains[3].
