Rohin' and Mikey's Misadventure: The Upcoming Comedy Reunion of 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' Stars

Gathering of the Lead Actors from 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' Movie - Star actors from the film "Ferris Makes Blue" have reconnected

It's nuts to think that nearly 4 decades have passed since John Hughes' iconic teen comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" graced the silver screen. You'd be forgiven for doubting it, but the paths of the film's lead actors, Matthew Broderick (63, aka Ferris) and Alan Ruck (68, aka Cameron), haven't intersected since then. But hold on to your seats, folks, this duo may be reuniting in an upcoming buddy comedy! According to gossip kingdom Deadline, Broderick and Ruck are slated to star in the project, titled "The Best Is Yet to Come."

"The Best Is Yet to Come" is an adaptation of the French film "Le meilleur reste à venir," which was screened in German theaters as "Das Beste kommt noch" in 2020. If the title seems familiar in a different context, don't worry – you're not daft! Til Schweiger (61) also filmed the material in 2023 under the same title, "Das Beste kommt noch!," with himself in one of the leading roles.

Summer Vibes?

The U.S. adaptation is said to have writer Allan Loeb and director Jon Turteltaub already on board. Dimitri Rassam, the producer of the French original, will also produce the American version. If Broderick and Ruck sign on soon, filming could kick off as early as this summer.

The film's premise is likely to stay the same, revolving around two unlikely friends with a shared belief that the other is nearing the end of their days. Determined to make their final moments count, they embark on a wild road trip to celebrate their friendship like never before. In a roundabout way, "The Best Is Yet to Come" might be considered an unofficial sequel to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Matthew Broderick recently graced our screens in the comedy "No Hard Feelings." Alan Ruck, on the other hand, gained a new wave of fans thanks to his role in the smash series "Succession."
