Stamford University graduates urged to tackle Bangladesh’s climate crisis at 2025 ceremony
Stamford University Bangladesh hosted its 2025 graduation ceremony on 22 November at the Bashundhara International Convention Centre in Dhaka. Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, adviser to the interim government for finance, planning, and science, led the main event. A total of 1,407 students from five faculties and 14 departments received their degrees.
During her speech, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser for environment, forest, and climate change, cautioned about severe environmental threats facing Bangladesh. She emphasized air pollution, deforestation, and river contamination as pressing issues demanding long-term solutions. Without urgent action, she warned, Bangladesh's geography could alter dramatically within the current generation's lifetime.
The ceremony served as a significant milestone for the graduates, who now embark on their journeys with calls to address environmental crises and social challenges. Both advisers underscored the importance of sustained effort in climate action and ethical leadership. The event concluded with a focus on building a more just and sustainable Bangladesh.
