Stalking game with Benelli Lupo BE.S.T. De Luxe deer rifle
Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Montefeltro, hunting enthusiast Andrea Barbieri recently tested the Benelli Lupo BE.S.T. De Luxe bolt-action rifle. The hunt for roe deer in the territories of Rivergaro was a testament to the rifle's precision and robustness.
The Lupo BE.S.T. De Luxe, equipped with a match-grade barrel and a 17 mm muzzle diameter, boasts M14x1 muzzle threading. Its Bavarian-style stock, featuring a Progressive Comfort recoil reduction system within the forend, provides a comfortable and stable grip. The rifle is protected from corrosion by the BE.S.T. Benelli treatment and is available in .30-06 Springfield, .308 Winchester, and .300 Winchester Magnum calibers. It comes with a double-stack magazine holding 5 rounds, 4 in the .300 Winchester Magnum caliber.
The hunt began with a careful and silent search through the territory, with the landscapes around the lodge offering a mix of cultivated hills and forests, providing ample cover for the roe deer. Alfalfa and vineyard fields, frequent sites for roe deer grazing in the evening, added to the serene atmosphere.
During the hunt, an adult female roe deer was spotted, but no males followed for half an hour. The steady view provided by the Steiner optic on the rifle allowed for a clear sight during the shot. The rifle's stable support, solid structure, and crisp trigger allowed for confident shooting at distances of 100 and 200 meters.
The modular stock and forend of the Lupo BE.S.T. De Luxe allows for adaptation of the drop, extension of the heel, and adjustment of the L.O.P., offering 84 possible combinations. This versatility, combined with the rifle's sub-M.O.A. precision, made it a reliable companion during the hunt.
The hunt took place at a site monitored by Andrea Barbieri, approximately 2 km from the stand. Later in the day, an elegant male roe deer was spotted, exhibiting a notable rack, considered old and suitable for harvest.
Unfortunately, the roe deer found in Montefeltro was shot by a poacher. This incident underscores the importance of responsible and ethical hunting practices. The Lupo BE.S.T. De Luxe, with its precision and robust design, is a testament to the craftsmanship and innovation in modern hunting equipment. When used responsibly and ethically, it can enhance the hunting experience while ensuring the sustainability of wildlife populations.
Young hares and rabbits were often seen during the hunt, amusing the group. The Sako Super Hammerhead 150 grain ammunition used for testing contributed to the rifle's precision, making each shot count. The landscapes around the lodge, with the city of Piacenza visible in the valley, provided a picturesque backdrop to this memorable hunting expedition.
