KRASS Theater Club's Successful Production of "The Jungle Book"

In a vibrant display of creativity and teamwork, the KRASS Theater Club, based in the Bürgerhaus Eller, Jägerstraße 31, presented their first play, "Try it with Gemütlichkeit, with calm and Gemütlichkeit..." based on the classic tale, "The Jungle Book".

The ensemble, which included artistic directors Zeynab Alpay and Ana Peres, KRASS founder Claudia Seidensticker, and an employee of the Eller city library, had been preparing for the big day for seven months. The children, aged between six and twelve, were the driving force behind the masks and stage design, as well as the costumes and adaptation of dialogues for the play.

The creative process was unique, with auditions and rehearsals focusing on acting, singing, and sometimes dance, guided by directors and theater educators. The rehearsals were lengthy due to the encouragement of the children's creativity and the need to decide between many possibilities. The final casting involved the girls changing their minds 100 times about who plays which roles.

The theater hall in the city library Eller at Gertrudisplatz was well-attended, with hardly any seats left. The five actresses danced, mimicked, and sang along in the play, creating a memorable performance.

In the near future, the theater club will delve into improvisational theater. Participation in the theater club is free, making it an accessible and engaging activity for children. For more information about KRASS and its many offers, please visit their website.

Common practices in youth theater clubs like KRASS involve a schedule spanning several weeks or months, including regular rehearsals and a run of public performances.
