Stadler Rail wins €263M deal for 20 new electric trains in Poland

Stadler Rail has secured a major contract from Poland's Greater Poland region. The deal, worth around €263 million, covers the delivery of up to 20 new FLIRT electric trains. Production will take place at Stadler's factory in Siedlce, with the first units expected to enter service by early 2028.

The initial order includes 10 five-car trains, with an option for 10 more. These modern units will serve both regional and urban routes across Greater Poland. Their introduction aims to improve transport links in the area.

An engineering team in Poznań will lead the development process. Currently, 100 specialists are working on the project, with plans to add 20 more engineers by 2026. This expansion reflects the scale of the contract and the technical demands of the new fleet. Stadler's Siedlce plant will handle the full manufacturing process. The facility has previously produced trains for other European markets, ensuring experience in meeting regional requirements. The first completed units are set to roll out in early 2028, marking a key upgrade for Poland's rail network.

The €263 million agreement represents one of Stadler's largest recent contracts in Poland. Once operational, the FLIRT trains will enhance connectivity for passengers travelling across Greater Poland. The project also strengthens Stadler's presence in the country's rail sector.
