Stadium or Sofa: Eintracht's Decision Before Champions League Qualifiers - Stadium swapped for sofa: surprising seating switch.
Headline:Eintracht Frankfurt on the Brink: Sunday's Showdown Decides Champions League Fate
Dino Toppmöller isn't popping the champagne just yet—not quite. That's because Eintracht Frankfurt still needs one more win to secure their dream of playing in the Champions League. "We're ready," Toppmöller declared ahead of the 33rd Bundesliga matchday at home against FC St. Pauli on Sunday (5:30 PM/DAZN).
A victory against St. Pauli would guarantee Frankfurt a spot in the elite class, regardless of how other teams perform on Saturday and the game between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund immediately before Eintracht's match.
Home Comfort or Heart-stopping Anxiety?
But Frankfurt might secure their spot in the Champions League as early as Saturday, thanks to slip-ups from their competitors—essentially from the comfort of their own home. The Hessians have a five-point lead over the fifth-placed team. "We'll keep an eye on the other games," Toppmöller admitted, "but we're not planning any special gatherings."
Toppmöller isn't counting on slip-ups from their competitors, preferring to focus on their own performance. "And if that situation arises, you might go into the game with an even better feeling," he added.
Fort Lauderdale or the Training Ground?
If Frankfurt qualifies for the Champions League as early as the penultimate matchday, there won't be any impromptu trips to Portugal or Spain. "We still have a responsibility towards the competition. That won't happen, no matter how it turns out," clarified Toppmöller.
With the prospect of Champions League football looming, Toppmöller is likely to rely on his tried-and-tested starting lineup. Youngster Can Uzun, along with disappointing winter signings Elye Wahi and Michy Batshuayi, may find themselves on the bench once again.
"There's no real reason to rotate up front," explained Toppmöller, adding, "If the players have earned their place and it fits, they'll play. But we're not living in a fantasy world."
End of the Line for Götze
Toppmöller will have to do without midfielder Mario Götze against St. Pauli and in the last matchday against SC Freiburg. As the Eintracht coach explained, the former World Cup winner won't play again this season.
Götze sustained a muscle injury in his thigh during the Europa League quarter-final return leg against Tottenham Hotspur about three weeks ago.

- Dino Toppmöller, despite the champagne remaining unopened, is cautious, as Eintracht Frankfurt requires one more victory to secure a berth in the Champions League, a potential accomplishment awaiting them on Sunday at Frankfurt am Main.
- A triumph against FC St. Pauli on Sunday at 5:30 PM (DAZN) could secure Frankfurt's presence in the elite class, even if Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund monopolize the attention before Eintracht's match.
- Frankfurt's Champions League qualification is likely to occur as early as Saturday, should their rivals stumble, providing them the comfort of avoiding last-minute heart-stopping anxiety.
- If Frankfurt secures a position in the Champions League ahead of the last matchday, there will be no impromptu vacations in Ibiza or Portugal, as Toppmöller emphasized the team's obligation to fulfill their responsibilities in the Bundesliga.
- With the Champions League within their grasp, Dino Toppmöller may prefer his proven starters, such as Can Uzun, Elye Wahi, and Michy Batshuayi, to remain on the bench during the remaining games, rather than engaging in fantasy lineup speculations.
