Nicky Henderson's Stable Shines at Punchestown and Beyond

In the world of horse racing, Nicky Henderson's yard continues to make headlines. Despite the temporary absence of Nico de Boinville, the trainer has been showcasing his stars during National Racehorse Week, and his team of jockeys has been performing admirably.

Nico de Boinville, Henderson's stable jockey, has been out of action since April 21, 2023, due to injuries sustained during a race. He missed the bet365 Celebration Chase at Sandown and both Constitution Hill and Lulamba at the Punchestown festival. However, de Boinville has been riding out with Henderson's team and has passed the necessary medical tests to return to racing. The news of his clearance to return to race-riding has been met with excitement by Henderson and racing fans alike.

During de Boinville's absence, James Bowen has stepped up to the plate, landing a Grade 1 in Ireland with Lulamba while replacing de Boinville. Bowen has been a reliable substitute, taking over the majority of de Boinville's rides during his absence. Henderson is keen to continue using Bowen and other young riders like Paddy (son of Shark Hanlon), Freddie Gordon, Dan Williams, and Henry Main. These riders, including some young riders with claims, form a strong team alongside de Boinville.

Besides de Boinville, Henderson uses a variety of jockeys. Paddy Hanlon fits in well with the team and has an available slot due to his experience. Dan Williams can ride against professionals, and Freddie Gordon is nearing the end of his claim. Henderson has also found a new conditional rider in his 18-year-old son.

As for the horses, Jonbon is among those that Henderson is considering for the King George bid. The trainer's stable is in good form, and the jockey department for the season is very strong.

The return of Nico de Boinville will undoubtedly strengthen Henderson's team further. His first ride back has yet to be confirmed, but racing fans are eagerly awaiting his comeback. Until then, Henderson's stable continues to shine, proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of horse racing.
