Stabbing Incident in Graz: Man Attacked Following Cigarette Demand
In the wee hours of a chilly Friday, a 44-year-old chap from Graz found himself in a dicey situation. At approximately 3:20 AM, on the parking lot of a multi-residential building in the Andritz district, specially on Papierfabrikgasse, a run-in with a stranger led to a knife attack.
The man had been hunkered down in his vehicle, sipping beer, when he stepped out for a quick relief break in the grassy area. As he made his way, he was approached by an ambiguous character who requested a cigarette. The gentleman politely declined, only to have the stranger mutter a bunch of incomprehensible words and get up close and personal.
Fearing for his safety, the 44-year-old pushed the man away, but rather than backing off, the stranger produced a knife and delivered a nasty wound to the man's right upper arm. No verbal threats were reported. The assailant then scarpered, vanishing into the night.
The police were promptly alerted, but despite a thorough search of the area, the suspect remains at large. The unfortunate victim was transported to LKH Graz for treatment. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack are ongoing.
As for other news in the region, it's been a wild ride in East Styria. Recently, a woman from Vienna's Favoriten district found herself in hot water following accusations of criminal threats and assault. Similarly, a suspect, presumably under the influence, confessed to an assault in Vienna.
