St. Louis City succumbs to Seattle Sounders' onslaught, with Danny Musovski netting another goal
The Sounders don't seem to care about odd referee decisions as they triumph over St. Louis City 4-1, making it 3-0-2 at Lumen Field this season.
Obed Vargas clinched the game-winner, while Danny Musovski bagged his fourth consecutive goal in the match. The contest was a thrilling display of quality football, according to Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer.
Two of the game's goals were the result of questionable penalties. St. Louis was given a penalty due to light contact on Cedric Teuchert, and the Sounders retaliated with a penalty of their own after Timo Baumgartl tripped Paul Rothrock.
City's goal is their first in club history at Lumen Field. Saint Louis joined the MLS in 2023.
Ryan Kent, a recent addition to the team, played a significant role in the victory. His precise pass outside the box set up Vargas' goal. Kent also contributed to Nouhou's second all-time MLS goal in second-half stoppage time.
Musovski's run of scores is a career-high and marks the first time a Sounders player has netted goals in four consecutive matches since Jordan Morris in 2016.
In spite of the decisive win, the Sounders weren't able to score again after the 81st minute. The majority of the announced 31,236 fans in attendance booed after a handball check dispute.
As for the overall MLS standings, only one team remains undefeated at home during the 2025 season: Charlotte FC. While the Sounders aren't among this elite group yet, their home performances show they are a force to be reckoned with.
NOTA BENE
The Sounders sent a message to Tom Biro, a former co-president of the Emerald City Supporters, who was recently struck by a car in Pioneer Square, causing head trauma among other injuries. The players held a banner for their pregame photo that read "Get well soon, Tom."
