SSE Holiday Assist 2025: A month of giving across the Bay Area

Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) has wrapped up its Holiday Assist initiative, bringing festive cheer to nearly 1,500 Bay Area children. The programme relied on community support and a $30,000 grant from the Sharks Foundation to make the season brighter for local families.

The effort included toy drives, gift-wrapping sessions, and a special celebration where players personally handed out presents to over 120 children and their caregivers at Alma Community Center.

The Holiday Assist campaign kicked off with toy collection drives across Sharks Ice facilities, SAP Center, and online platforms. Fans, players, and volunteers contributed a total of 446 toys to support children in need.

Next, a gift-wrapping event took place at Family Giving Tree’s Sunnyvale hub. Sharks staff, players, and volunteers gathered to wrap 1,000 gifts, ensuring each child would receive something special. The programme concluded with a festive event at Alma Community Center. Sharks players—including Alexander Wennberg, Ryan Reaves, Ty Dellandrea, Vincent Desharnais, and Dmitry Orlov—joined team mascot S.J. Sharkie in handing out presents. Each child also received a free skate pass and a limited-edition Sharks Foundation beanie. Among the attendees were Sharks Foundation Executive Director Kevin Brown and San Jose District 7 Council Member Bien Doan. The event marked the end of a season-long effort to bring holiday joy to families across the Bay Area.

The Holiday Assist initiative provided gifts, personal interactions with players, and festive experiences to nearly 1,500 children. Funded by a $30,000 Sharks Foundation grant and community donations, the programme ensured a memorable holiday for local families. The final celebration at Alma Community Center wrapped up the effort with smiles, presents, and a sense of community.
